A new car company in Japan has taken the idea of a car that looks more like an iPhone to a whole new level.
The company, called Optima, says it is the world’s first automated car that automatically maps out the road to make sure it’s in the right place.
The automaker says it will offer a vehicle that will look just like an ordinary iPhone, but will have a different interior layout.
“We want people to feel like they are walking on the highway,” said Hiroshi Ikeda, the CEO of the automaker, during an event at the company’s Tokyo headquarters.
Optima says its first prototype vehicle is a prototype with only one seat, and will be offered to Japanese consumers next year.
It also plans to build a second prototype, which is expected to be in production in 2019, to offer the car to Japanese automakers.
Ikedas predecessor company, Takumi, had made a similar concept vehicle in the 1990s.
The automaker’s first car will be sold in Japan, and Ikedasa said he hopes to expand the range to other countries.
“The first car for the US market should come in 2021, and for Europe and Japan, in 2021,” he said.
Iadeda did not specify where the automakers cars will be built.
He also did not say whether the cars will include a navigation system.
Optima, which makes the vehicles with software designed by a team at Microsoft, is planning to launch the first vehicle next year in Japan.
Iheadeda did say that the automaks first prototype would have a maximum seating capacity of three.
Optimal said it has hired more than 1,000 people in the past few months.
The number of engineers and people working on the project is increasing at a rapid pace, and the company said it expects to add more than 400 new employees this year.
Optimo was founded in March 2013.
It plans to develop an autonomous driving system and software, as well as to sell a range of vehicle parts.
Its vehicles will be equipped with a GPS navigation system and a laser range-finding system, which will allow drivers to find their way on roads with less effort.
The company is currently seeking funding to hire more people.
The government of Japan recently approved the construction of an auto-parking garage and plans to use it to build more than 10,000 vehicles a year.
